SKU: 549-352
Model: FJ40, FJ45, FJ55
Year: 1958-1975
Fits 1958 - 1/75 FJ40/45/55 Check the condition of your existing contacts. If they are excessively worn, burned, or pitted, they should be replaced. Generally, when material transfer between the contacts has reached 0.020" or more, it's time to replace the points. Gap setting 0.018".

Sold as a combo, including: distributor breaker, points assembly, and external ignition condenser.

The basic function of a condenser in a coil ignition circuit is to reduce the spark at the contact points as they open inside the distributor to minimize burning the points. It is normal to change the condenser while changing plug wires, distributors cap and rotor along with other tune-up components to keep your engine running and starting smoothly.

Note: When you change the point gap, you will have also changed the ignition timing, therefore, when adjusting or replacing points, you will also need to adjust the ignition timing. This will ensure you achieve the best idle, power, and fuel mileage out of your Cruiser.
